The inner sweatband is made of cotton, the edge band is made of grosgrain woven nylon.
A Panama hat usually provides good protection from the sun, this hat to a lesser extent as there may be air holes between the straws, but on the other hand it is light and provides better cooling of the head as the air can come and go, take it with you on holiday or to the beach.
